Tucson Time Capsule : Hotel Park Tucson goes up

A new 217-room hotel was under construction at 5151 E. Grant Road on Aug. 7, 1984. The Hotel Park Tucson, near Tucson Medical Center, was scheduled to open in February 1985. One feature of the new hotel was that more than half of the rooms would have a living room separate from the bedrooms. The four-story structure would cost $15.8 million; Mer-Cal Construction Inc. was the general contractor. The hotel is now the Sheraton Tucson Hotel & Suites.
